Black Opal Books Announces it's Undiscovered Gemstones Contest
Black Opal Books is excited to begin their "Undiscovered Gemstones" contest for 2012 for writers. Entry Deadlines is April 30th, 2012.

BLACK OPAL BOOKS’ UNDISCOVERED GEMSTONES CONTEST IS NOW OPEN
Saturday, March 3, 2012: Black Opal Books is pleased to announce that our Undiscovered Gemstones Contest is now open. The contest is open to any completed, previously unpublished manuscript with a word count of between 50,000 and 80,000 words in any genre except young children books, poetry, and non-fiction. Authors can enter as many such manuscripts as they wish, provided that each entry is accompanied by a separate entry form and entry fee. Entry deadline is April 30, 2012.
Unpublished manuscripts for which the author has signed a publishing contract are not eligible for this contest.
Entries will be accepted from March 1, 2012 until April 30, 2012. Entries received and paid for prior to midnight Pacific Time, March 31, 2012, will pay an the entry fee of $23 for the first manuscript and $18 for each additional manuscript by the same author. Entries received and paid for after midnight Pacific Time, March 31, 2012, will pay an entry fee of $25 for the first manuscript and $20 for each additional manuscript by the same author.
All entrants will receive a copy of the judge’s score sheets. The ten Finalists will receive an awards certificate, a critique of their entry manuscript pages and synopsis by a primary editor, and a $10 gift certificate for the Black Opal Books Bookstore. The grand prize winner and the first and second runners-up will receive an awards certificate, a critique of the first two-chapters (up to 60 pages) and synopsis, by a primary editor, of their entry or any other manuscript they choose to submit for this critique, and a $25 cash prize. The grand prize winner will also receive the offer of a publishing contract. Should no entry be judged worthy of the offer of a publishing contract, Black Opal Books reserves the right to give the grand prize winner a four chapter critique in lieu of said offer. The winning author is not obligated to accept the offer of the publishing contract.
