War Hero's Blindness Sparks Vision on mtvU Network

JWORK Limited CEO Jermaine Jenkins was already recognized by peers as an innovator when he enlisted in the National Guard in 2001 alongside COO of JWORK Limited, Andre Wilson. While overseas, Jenkins and Wilson were exposed to multiple cultures, which further fueled their already budding creativity. However, Jenkins' time in the military also came with temporary setbacks and a near death encounter. While on a mission with his unit, Jenkins’ vehicle was hit by an IED, a roadside mine-like explosive device. This incident left the JWORK Limited's CEO blinded for nearly a month; however, his temporary blindness increased his long-term vision and drive. It was during this time that JWORK Limited was born. Upon Wilson’s return to Columbus, OH from his tour in Kosovo and Jenkins’ return from his tour in Iraq with a purple heart, they not only had new experiences to share, but also a new focus that would lead their fashion brand to the top.

Incorporated in 2005, the company’s goal was to create clothing that would give people a voice and allow them to look and feel exclusive, all while living the life that was promised to us all: The American Dream.
