Pressking FAQ

What is PressKing?

PressKing is the first affordable all-in-one solution for managing press relations online. Thanks to PressKing, you can create an online press release that will be indexed by search engines, distribute it to journalists via our database of 490,000 contacts, access a distribution report to interact with journalists, and finally create a personalized and externalized press room to centralize all information destined for the media via PressKing. Since its launch in November 2010, 25,000 press releases have been published by 15,000 businesses.

How do I know if journalists have read my press release once it has been published?

Once your press release is published and approved by our team of moderators, a distribution report is created. This report allows you to interact with the journalists who read the mail sent by PressKing or who read your press release. You then have the opportunity to interact with them via email or via their Twitter accounts (if they exist).

What is the difference between the subscription option vs. paying per press release?

Whether you choose to pay as you go or to subscribe to PressKing, users enjoy the same basic services, namely, the ability to create an online press release indexed by search engines, the distribution of this release to journalists, access to a distribution report and the ability to interact with journalists who opened the message sent by PressKing or those who read the release.

Users who have subscribed also benefit from additional services:

Access to a customizable and externalized press room for their business.
A special rate for sending press releases.
The ability to send press releases to more personal contacts.

How often is the journalist database updated?

The new PressKing database contains 490,000 journalists and bloggers from 181 countries (205,000 more than the previous version). This database is updated daily.

I purchased credits in the old version of Pressking. How do I use them?

You should have received an email containing a promotional code to obtain a discount using our new platform, based on the number of credits you had remaining. If you cannot find this message, please email support@pressking.com.

What happened to the mailing lists? How do I select journalists I would like to contact?

In order to simplify the use of PressKing, we decided to eliminate the use of distribution lists to send a press release. From now on, you just have to select one or more countries and one or more sub-categories of journalists to configure the sending of your release.

I had a press room in the previous version. How do I access it?

Press rooms are now reserved for users who are subscribed to PressKing. If you had previously created your own press room, you can enable it from your account by clicking "My Press Room" in the menu.

With this new version, what will happen to my old press releases?

Your old press releases are still available from your account. The only releases accessible by third parties (without being connected to your account) are releases that have been distributed to at least one journalist. In effect, whereas previously a PressKing user could "publish" a press release without distributing it, users must now "distribute" to journalists so that they can be accessed by anyone and referenced by search engines.

I have a question or issue that is not addressed on this page. What can I do?
